Openings for several PhD Students at Brown University

Příspěvek od Marek Vondrak »

The Department of Computer Science at Brown University will have openings in our Ph.D. program for the fall 2013. The positions range across all branches of computer science, matching faculty interests. Our ties to other university departments also provide strong opportunities for students to conduct interdisciplinary research.

The positions include full tuition support, health insurance, and a generous stipend. Students receive on average USD $22,000 during the 9-month academic year, with many opportunities to supplement this at a higher rate in the summer. Students in good academic standing are guaranteed five years of full academic support.

Brown has many vibrant international communities and hosts nearly 40 active international student groups. Our Ph.D. program is comprised of students from fifteen different countries with 44% of our students coming here from such places as Brazil, Greece, China, India, Italy, Israel, Japan, and Turkey—just to name a few. Additionally, in the Department of Computer Science, we have a student run program designed to provide help and support for international students.

Brown is located in Providence, Rhode Island, in northeastern USA, an hour south of Boston and three hours north of New York. Providence and New England offer numerous cultural, historical, and culinary attractions, beaches and coastline, bicycling, skiing, and much more. The city is compact and easily navigable without a car. Providence also has excellent train service to both Boston and New York.

Applications will be accepted from October 2012 through December 15, 2012.
